DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
Elizabeth Ninesling made Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse history on Tuesday, becoming the first player in program history to earn a national weekly honor. The junior was selected as the NCAA II National Defensive Player of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association for her performance during the week ending April 17.
The honor comes just one day after the junior was tabbed as the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in her career.
Ninesling began the week with a seven-point performance to lead the Blue and Gold past Palm Beach Atlantic, 17-11. The Allentown, Pennsylvania native recorded game highs in caused turnovers (6), ground balls (8), draw controls (8), points (7), goals (4), and assists (3) on the way to reaching the 100-point milestone in her ERAU career.
Two days later, Ninesling led the 12th-ranked Eagles to a 15-7 upset of ninth-ranked Florida Southern. She totaled eight caused turnovers, eight ground balls and won five draws in addition to tallying two goals.
