GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Members of the Embry-Riddle men's track and field team posted personal records on the first day of the Alachua County Collegiate Invitational on Thursday. The two-day meet is being held at the Alachua County Sports Complex.
The first running event of the day featured PRs for
Tayan Benson and
Tristan McWilliam. Competing in the mile, the duo finished fifth and sixth, with Benson bettering the mark he set a week ago with a time of 4:21.62, and McWilliam crossing in 4:23.97.
For the second week in a row,
Brendon Shea posted a personal record in indoor competition, this time in the 5000m. The sophomore posted the fastest time of the day of 14:38.11 to cross the line in first place, just ahead of teammate
Tanner Rosolino who placed second in 15:04.13.
The Eagles also had a good showing in the 600m as three first-time competitors in the event for the Eagles finished in the top 10. Freshman
Kalel Duncan placed third overall in a time of 1:22.82, followed by
Vincent Brookins in fifth in 1:23.80 and
Ryle Traub in eighth in 1:24.88.
Embry-Riddle entered two teams in the distance medley relay and both finished in the top five. The quartet of
Jacob D'Aleo,
Adam Landen,
Drake Stephan and
Jake Fritz won the event in 10:06.18, while
Tristan McWilliam, Brookins, Duncan and Benson finished fourth in 10:29.20.
The Eagles close out the two-day meet on Friday.
