DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 2023 outdoor season got underway on Saturday for Embry-Riddle Men's Track and Field with the Eagles hosting the ERAU First Chance Last Chance Invitational at the Embry-Riddle Track & Field Complex. The Eagles' performances included 16 event wins and 13 personal records.
After
Andrew Stowe recorded the first win of the day with a time of 15:00.73 in the 5000m, the Eagles swept the podium in the Mile, led by Bartosz Kwiecinski who won the race in 3:58.28.
Tristan McWilliam was second in a personal best time of 3:59.47 and
Tayan Benson also recorded a PR of 4:01.55 to place third.
Four of the top five spots in the 100m dash went to the Eagles. Craig Dedrick was the first to cross the line in a wind-aided PR of 10.73, while Huy Ho was second in 11.26.
Brandon Taylor was fourth in 11.63 and
Aaron Strauber rounded on the top five with a personal-best time of 11.82.
The 200m yielded personal records for the top five Eagle finishers. Dedrick earned his second win and second PR of the day with a time of 21.95.
Revendy Paul was second in 22.37, followed by
Joey Johnson (22.62) in fourth, Walker Cowherd (22.86) in fifth and Diggs in seventh (23.17).
Connor Page recorded a PR of his own in the 400m hurdles, finishing in 59.61.
Competition in the field events started with the pole vault where
Jeremy Mog matched his personal best by clearing a height of 1.90m.
In his first competition wearing an Eagle uniform, Antonio Caito won the triple jump with a leap of 14.07m (46-2).
Kobe Diggs' PR of 13.79m (45-3) earned him a second-place finish, and
Darren Kong was third in 12.78m (41-11.25).
The throwing events featured a PR of 11.13m (36-6.25) for Jake Lyons in the shot put and a personal-best throw of 33.05m (106-5) for
Seth Cribben in the discus.
The Eagles have a two-week break before their next meet, which will be the Tampa Classic on March 3.
