TAMPA, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's track and field team posted several season and personal best times at the Tampa Distance Classic on Friday. The meet, hosted by the University of Tampa, was the Eagles' second outdoor competition of the season.
The day began with a first-place finish for
Tristan McWilliam in the 1500m. McWilliam won the race in 4:01.72 with teammates
Tayan Benson (4:04.52) and
Jacob D'Aleo (4:10.80) taking third and fifth, respectively.
McWilliam followed his win in the 1500m with a personal best time of 1:54.93 in the 800m.
After a season-best 43.51 for Craig Dedrick,
Ajani McPherson,
Joey Johnson and Huy Ho in the 4x100m relay,
Drake Stephan and Walker Cowherd finished third and sixth, respectively in the 400m with Stephan recording a PR of 50.47 and Cowherd running a season-best 54.20.
The Eagles notched another win when
Brendon Shea topped the podium in the 5000m in 14:38.91, which marks the fifth-fastest outdoor time in program history.
Bartosz Kwiecinski (14:55.64),
Simon Cole (15:37.78) and
Ethan Stout (15:54.89) all recorded personal best finishes in that event.
The Eagles' next competition will be at the River City Relays hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, March 16-17.
