DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle Women's Soccer's
Isabelle Navren was announced as the 2022-23 Sunshine State Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Tuesday. Navren is the first women's soccer player to be honored as an SSC Scholar-Athlete, and is the first Embry-Riddle woman and the third ERAU student-athlete overall to win the honor following Juan Ortiz Couder (2021-22) and Elijah Jenkins (2020-21).
Now in her fourth year at Embry-Riddle, Navren is on an accelerated track and completed the undergraduate portion of her academic pursuits in May with a perfect 4.0 grade point average majoring in Accounting and Finance. She also minored in Psychology and is now working toward her MBA.
"I want to congratulate Bella on this award," ERAU Head Coach
Liam McIlhatton said. "To be awarded the Scholar-Athlete of the Year is a great achievement and something that she thoroughly deserves. Bella is very dedicated to her studies and it's great to see all of her hard work being rewarded. This caps a very successful year for her individually and it is another example of the Student Person Player model that we hold ourselves to at Embry Riddle."
Navren has been named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll four times, is a two-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award winner and was awarded a 2022-23 Eagles of Excellence Scholarship. In 2022, she was one of four ERAU women's soccer student-athletes to earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors and went on to be named to the CSC Academic All-America third team.
Navren has also been active on campus and in the community. She has volunteered for several marathon and 5K events, the Gatorade volleyball tournament and the Daytona 500, and participated in the Thanksgiving Basket Brigade and ERAU campus clean-ups. She coaches youth soccer and works for the Riddle Support Network which provides support for Embry-Riddle students with financial, academic and housing challenges.
In athletic competition, Navren has been a mainstay in the ERAU women's soccer midfield since arriving on campus as a freshman. She has started in all 55 of her appearances and has played a key role in each of the Eagles' SSC regular season and tournament Championships and all three NCAA II postseason appearances.
Along with her academic accolades, Navren has garnered recognition for her athletic performance. A two-time SSC First Team All-Conference honoree, she was selected as the 2022 SSC women's soccer tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Additionally, she was named to the D2 CCA All-Region second in team in 2021 and garnered first team honors in 2022 after capping her junior campaign with 22 points on eight goals and six assists with two game-winners.
Voting for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is conducted among Athletic Directors, Senior Woman Administrators, Athletic Communication Directors, and Faculty Athletic Representatives from the 11 SSC member institutions.
