Men's Track & Field records several high finishes at Jimmy Carnes Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's track and field team opened the 2024 indoor season at the Jimmy Carnes Invite at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center on Friday, highlighted by a first-place finish and multiple top-three finishes.

It was an early start for the Eagles, participating in the weight throw event at 9 a.m, where Chance Tressler and Tristen Wheaton finished first and second with marks of 13.30m and 12.75m respectively, as ERAU claimed five of the top six spots as Jacob Swavely, Joshua Dixon and Noah Gammichia finished fourth through sixth place.

Antonio Caito and Kobe Diggs had solid performances in the long jump, finishing sixth and eighth out of a field of 21 with marks of 6.50m and 6.25m respectively.

Tressler then made the top three in an event once again with a third-place 13.38m toss in the shot put, with attempts of 12.93m from Dixon and 12.31m from Swavely rounding out the top five. Diggs then got third place in the triple jump with 14.00m, which is an indoor personal record for him and ninth-best in program history.

The Eagles are back in action in Gainesville next Friday, as they'll be competing at the RADD College Invite at the Alachua County Sports Complex.
