GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's track and field team had a tremendous day one of the Florida Collegiate Invitational, with the Eagles finishing high in numerous races, setting many personal records and having some of the best showings in program history in several events at the Alachua County Sports Complex.
The mile was a very successful event for the Eagles, as
Jake Fritz (4:13.89) and
Jacob D'Aleo (4:17.18) finished third and fifth respectively, with Fritz's time being a personal record and the tenth-best in program history. Then in the 600m the Eagles had two more top-five finishes as
Charles Hruda (1:23.25) and
William Fiesbeck (1:24.10) came in third and fourth.
Fritz came in third place in the 1000m, with his time of 2:32.65 being the sixth-best in program history and a personal best.
The 5000m was a massive success for Embry-Riddle, as three different Eagles recorded top-10 times in program history.
Brendon Shea finished in first place with a time of 14:24.88, which was good enough to hit the provisional mark and place second in ERAU history.
Nicholas Scarangelli came in second with a time of 14:33.62, fourth-best in program history.
Tanner Rosolino's time of 14:47.52 got him fifth place in the race, as well as the ninth-best 5000m time in Embry-Riddle history.
In addition to this, Shea and Rosolino's times were also personal records, and Shea set the facility record.
Kobe Diggs (22.90),
Walker Cowherd (23.13), and
Colin McHugh (23.48) all set personal bests in the 200m.
The Eagles are back in action tomorrow morning, as they'll compete in day two of the Florida Collegiate Invitational.
