Men's Rowing Puts in Solid Performance at Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Embry-Riddle men's rowing put out a solid showing, with one win and two second-place finishes at Florida Tech's Canal 54 on Saturday.

In the first men varsity eights, the ERAU boat of Ognjen Srbinovic, Jack Hobart, Vaclav Kuncak, Igor Martinovic, James Zbitnoff, Ike Dunavant, Blake Paynter, Matthew Talty and Connor Matthews (coxswain) finished in second place in 5:54.6, 7.2 seconds behind Jacksonville.

In the second varsity eights race, the second varsity eights boat containing Roman Linkugel, Hayden Lesser, Quinn Calzada, Connor Goepfert, Joshua Thornburgh, Jake Blackmon, Colden Gotobed, Maximus Weitekamper and Jolee Paulk (coxswain) came in first in a time of 5:59.7, beating out JU by three seconds,

In the varsity fours, Kuncak, Martinovic, Zbitnoff, Talty and Matthews (coxswain) finished in third behind Florida Tech and Jacksonville, finishing in 6:47.0.

The second varsity four boat of Linkugel, Ian Ranker, Paynter, Weitekamper and Paulk (coxswain) fared better, coming in second place, finishing with a time of 6:47.5.

Next up for the Eagles are the FIRA Championships in Sarasota on Friday and Saturday.
