DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Embry-Riddle Men's Track and Field started off the Peach Belt Conference Outdoor Championships in style, winning three conference championships in the first of the two-day the event.
At the end of day one, Embry-Riddle leads the field with 110 points, far ahead of second-place Columbus State (44 points)
In the decathlon 100m,
Carter Speh (10.98),
Aidan Barnes (11.35),
Stephen Baird II (11.64),
Noah Robbins (12.45) and
John Bai (13.01) all set personal records. Then in the long jump, Baird II (6.15m) and Speh (5.78m) set career bests, while
Nathan Wyant set an outdoor best of 5.58m. Additionally, Wyant set a personal best of 11.90m in the shot put. Baird II set a personal record of 1.43 in the high jump, while Speh and Bai set outdoor records of 1.64m and 1.61m, in addition to Wyant tying his best with a 1.49m leap. Barnes set another personal best, running the 400m in 1:00.58.
Chance Tressler (45.71m),
Matt Larsen (44.97m),
Jacob Swavely (44.72m) Josh Dixon (42.99m) and
Noah Gammichia (42.15m) all recorded career bests in the hammer.
Ryan Flournoy reclaimed his conference title in the javelin, posting the fourth-best mark in program history with a 63.14m throw. Chase O'Conell came in second place with a 62.27m throw, the eighth-best in ERAU history, while medalist Barnes set a new career best of 55.14m to win the bronze.
Walker Cowherd broke the 15-year-old program record and hit a provisional mark in the long jump with a leap of 7.33m to win the conference championship. In addition, silver medalist
Kobe Diggs had a 7.02 leap, the sixth best in program history and a personal record.
Antonio Caito also set a personal record with 6.66m.
Jacob Fritz earned a bronze medal in the 1500m with a time of 3:52.23, which is a personal record and the 10th-best time in Embry-Riddle history.
Lucca DiMario easily beat his previous best time of 4:04.12, finishing in 3:58.85.
In the preliminaries for the 110m hurdles,
Derick Brown set a personal record of 14.71m, the 10th-best time in Eagles history.
Jeremy Mog became conference champion in the high jump with a 1.92m leap, tying a personal record.
K'Anthony Benjamin ran the second-fastest 100m in program history, as he broke the tape in 10.47. In addition,
Joey Johnson (10.77),
Craig Dedrick III (10.84) and
Kobe Diggs (10.96) all set personal records.
In the 400m hurdles,
Chris Abell set a personal best of 54.75 to advance to Tuesday's final.
Dedrick and Cowherd will also race for a title in the 200m on Tuesday. Dedrick (21.56) and Cowherd (21.92) both ran career bests in Monday's prelims to advance.
The Eagles are back in action tomorrow morning, beginning with the 5000m at 8:00 a.m. A total of 10 conference championships are up for grab tomorrow.
