ORLANDO, Fla.– The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team placed seven individuals on the 2025 All-Sunshine State Conference teams, as announced by the league office on Thursday. The All-SSC honors, voted on by the conference's head coaches, included two Eagles on the first team, three on the second, and two on the third. The seven selections mark the program's most since 2023, when 10 Eagles were recognized. Embry-Riddle has now earned at least six All-SSC honors in four of the last five seasons.
Junior
Lauryn Mateo earned a spot on the first team for the first time in her career after back-to-back second-team selections and a 2023 SSC Freshman of the Year award. Mateo has started every match this year, leading ERAU in every offensive category: points (15), goals (6), assists (3), shots (41), shots on goal (18), and game-winning goals (3).
Anna Marisa Lara joined Mateo on the first team in her debut season as a starter. The forward tallied five goals and two assists, including goals in consecutive matches against Eckerd and Palm Beach Atlantic.
Earning second-team recognition were seniors
Thea Nyberg and
Olivia Gallo, along with goalkeeper
Stella Roane. Nyberg has now been named to an All-SSC team in each of her four seasons. The Swedish defender was a third-team pick in 2022, Defender of the Year in 2023, and has earned back-to-back second-team nods in 2024 and 2025. She leads all outfield players with 1,520 minutes played out of a possible 1,530.
Gallo collected her first career All-SSC honor after contributing one goal and a career-high four assists. The veteran defender was a key part of an ERAU back line that allowed less than one goal per game and recorded six shutouts.
Roane impressed in her first year as the full-time starter in goal. The Broomfield, Colorado, native is the only Eagle to play every minute this season, posting 64 saves, an .821 save percentage, and a 0.82 goals-against average. Her season high came with 10 saves against West Florida, and she made five saves in three separate SSC matches.
Matilda Taylor and
Ida Zetterberg rounded out Embry-Riddle's honorees with third-team selections. Taylor, a steady presence in the midfield, started all 17 games and played the full 90 minutes in half of them.
Zetterberg, who has featured both on the wing and up front, registered three goals and two assists. Her standout performance came against Lynn, when she posted four shots on goal, netted the game-winner, and added an assist.
Embry-Riddle now awaits the NCAA Division II Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 17, to find out if the Eagles will advance to the National Tournament. ERAU was ranked No. 4 in the most recent regional poll (Nov. 12), with bids awarded to each of the top six teams.
