Volleyball, Women’s Basketball Earn SSC Weekly Honors

| By:
ORLANDO, Fla. - A trio of Eagles were honored by the Sunshine State Conference for their excellent performances last week. Volleyball's Kailey Hrbek was named Defensive Player of the Week while Eliana Sheplee (Player of the Week) and Mary Lengemann (Defensive Player of the Week) swept the women's basketball awards for Embry-Riddle. It's the first weekly honor for each of these three Eagles.

Hrbek becomes the second member of the volleyball program to win an SSC weekly award this season. She is the eighth Eagle to receive SSC Defensive Player of the Week honors and the first since 2023. Over 13 sets in three matches last week, Hrbek acted as a brick wall at the net. The junior stuffed 18 attacks to average 1.38 blocks per set and also grabbed one dig.

Her week was highlighted by an 11-block performance in a four-set win at Florida Southern. It tied for the fifth-most blocks in a match in program history and the most since 2022. Additionally, it was the most in a four-set match by a Sunshine State Conference student-athlete in 2025 and tied for the eighth-most in conference history.

Sheplee and Lengemann become the first two members of the women's basketball program to pick up an SSC award this season. Sheplee recorded the second-highest point total in ERAU women's basketball history with her 35 point outing against Flagler on Wednesday evening, while also becoming the first player in program history to go perfect from the free-throw line with at least 10 attempts. Between the two games last week, Sheplee averaged 23 points, 3.5 rebounds, and one assist. The Wisconsin native becomes the first Eagle to win SSC Player of the Week since Madyson Jean-Louis (Feb. 17, 2025).

Lengemann shut down both the Flagler and Saint Leo offense's last week, with the Eagles beating the Saints 74-70, and then a dominant 87-55 win at home to start SSC play over the Lions. Lengemann averaged 10.5 points this week, while grabbing 11 defensive rebounds, in addition to her three steals and a block. Saint Leo scored a season-low 55 points against ERAU, while only shooting .379 from the floor. She is the first Eagle player to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors since Anye Staton (Jan. 13, 2025).
