LAKELAND, Fla. – For the second time this season,
Max Kops has been selected as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Region Player of the Week for the week ending March 16.
Kops, who was also named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week on Monday, led the Eagles to a 5-0 record last week. During that five-game stretch, the Oosterhout, Netherlands native drove in 11 runs, scored 10 times, and homered in each of his last four games. Kops was 4-for-10, including two doubles and a home run, four RBI and four runs scored in a road doubleheader at USC Beaufort. He followed with a 3-for-4 performance in a win over Minnesota-Duluth with two RBI, a double, and a home run, and in a two-game set against St. Michael's, Kops went 5-for-9 at the plate, drove in five runners, scored five times, and homered in both contests. Over the five games, he totaled 12 hits in 23 at-bats for a .522 batting average, with a .577 on-base percentage and a 1.261 slugging percentage. Defensively, the infielder had 28 putouts and three assists in 32 chances and helped turn five double plays.
