Volleyball Picked Fourth in SSC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference office announced the 2025 volleyball preseason coaches' poll on Tuesday morning, and the Embry-Riddle volleyball team received 66 points to rank fourth on the list. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own programs.

Defending NCAA II National Champion Lynn was picked first in the poll with 97 total points and eight first-place votes ahead of Tampa, who gathered 92 points and two first-place votes. Barry received the other first-place vote for 81 total points with Embry-Riddle, Nova Southeastern (65) and Florida Tech (62) comprising a tight group in the middle of the poll.

Head Coach Joslynn Gallop's squad is coming off an eighth-straight season finishing at or above .500 as the Blue and Gold posted a 21-10 overall record in 2024 with a 13-7 mark in league play to place fifth. The Eagles reached the NCAA II South Regional for the second-straight season and downed Florida Tech in the opening round before nearly upsetting top-seeded Lynn, falling 19-17 in the fifth set.

Now reaching her 21st year and 20th season at the helm of the program, Gallop has a majority of 2024's production returning. The team's top attacker Isabella Rujano (4.12 kills/set) returns after a decorated 2024 campaign that saw the then-junior receive All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American honors. The team's primary setter, Ashlyn Koerner (8.03 assists/set), also returns along with libero Gabriela Pagan (3.89 digs/set) and the two top blockers in terms of blocks per set in Haley Manjack (1.11 blocks/set) and Dana Gibbons (1.08 blocks/set).

Embry-Riddle will be looking to return to the postseason for the fifth time in the last six seasons. The Eagles' 2025 campaign begins with the Bahama House Labor Day Classic from Sept. 5-6. ERAU will face Montevallo (12:15 p.m.) and MSU Denver (7 p.m.) on Friday followed by Flagler (2:30 p.m.) and Sioux Falls (7 p.m.) on Saturday.
