KENOSHA, Wis. – The Embry-Riddle women's cross country team tested itself against a strong national field at the Lucian Rosa Invitational on Saturday, placing 20th out of 23 teams. The lineup featured eight nationally ranked programs and one receiving votes in the Week 2 USTFCCCA national poll.
Junior
Taylor Roth once again set the pace for the Eagles, finishing 83rd overall in 23:07.5. Freshman
Cristina Soto continued her solid debut season with an 89th-place finish in 23:14.4. Sophomore
Emily Tubbs (23:53.3) and senior
Kendall Mathis (23:55.7) provided steady scoring in the middle of the lineup, while freshman
Madison Johnson cracked the Eagles' top five for the first time in her career, clocking 24:00.2 for 135th place.
Senior
Zara Zervos (24:06.0) and sophomore
Charlotte O'Brien (24:07.7) were the team's sixth and seventh finishers, keeping the Eagle pack tight through the middle of the field.
"First time for many of our athletes to see a field this talented and to run a 6K," head coach
Mike Rosolino said. "We had a solid effort but never really got into the race. It was a great experience and something to learn from and to build on as we get ready for postseason."
