THE EAGLES
Ranked second in the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll for the third straight week, the Embry-Riddle women's soccer is seeking its eighth conference win of the season. The Eagles, who are also listed second in the latest NAIA Modified Ratings Percentage Index (.918706), are 13-1 on the year and 7-0 in league play, following a 2-0 win over Thomas last Saturday.

Their last time out saw the Blue and Gold spoil senior day for the Thomas women's soccer team. In the 26th minute, Andrea Froshaug won a one-on-one battle on the left side and took the ball into the box where she rifled a shot off toward the far post. Froshaug's attempt went off the post, but fell into the path of Nina Joergensen and the unmarked sophomore deposited the rebound into the lower right corner to give the Blue and Gold a 1-0 lead.

Midway through the second half, Isabelle Haaranen was subbed for a brief rest. She returned to the game at the 74:01 mark and one minute and 18 seconds later, she gave the Eagles a two-goal lead. Haaranen collected the ball on the left side, dribbled through a pair of defenders and hit a shot that Hartley managed to stop, but she wasn't able to hold on to the ball and Haaranen collected the rebound and tapped in her 10th goal of the year to seal the win.

Frøshaug continues to lead the Eagles' scoring efforts with 13 goals and five assists for 31 points on the year. Haaranen is next with 24 points (10G, 4 A), while Annie Gelnaw (6G, 4 A) and Katherine Ebbs (5G, 6A) have 16 points each.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS
Under the guidance of second year head coach Ashley Cockrell, the Warriors come into Friday's contest at 5-6-1 overall and 3-3-1 in Sun Conference play. Their last time out saw the Warriors fall to SCAD Savannah, 2-1. Cierra Abundez and Jenna Murphy each have seven goals to lead the WIU offense, while Kayla Hanel has 83 saves and a 1.50 goals against average in 12 appearances.

THE ERAU-WIU SERIES
The Eagles and the Warriors have done battle 26 times. The Eagles are 23-2-1 against the Warriors, including a 2-1 win over WIU on Sept. 26, 2012.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team earned its first Sun Conference victory of the 2013 season with a come-from behind, 2-1 win over Webber International on Sept. 26.

In the first half, the Eagles had the better of the offense, outshooting the Warriors 11-0 in the first 45 minutes. Although they created opportunities, the Eagles were unable to convert any of those chances into points on the second, resulting in a scoreless tie at the half.

Less than a minute into the second frame, WIU played a hopeful ball across the top of the Eagles' penalty area. After the Eagle defense failed to make a play on it, the ball fell to Ciera Abundez and with her first strike, she registered the Warriors' first shot of the game and gave the visitors a 1-0 lead.

In the 59th minute, the Eagles won a corner kick. Katherine Ebbs launched the ball toward the far post and Martine Olsen rose to head it past WIU goalkeeper Makenzie Vance, but the goal was called back after the referee ruled that Olsen was offside.

After pinning the Warriors in their half for much of the period, the Eagles finally managed to find the back of the net on their 16th shot of the night. Valerie Obita received the ball of the right side of the field and dribbled around a couple of defenders before slotting a low shot in to the WIU net to draw the Eagles level, 1-1.

As the game wore on, ERAU continued to dominate offensively as evidenced by a 13-2 advantage in shots and a 6-0 advantage in corners in the second frame. The Eagles' persistence paid off with under three minutes remaining in regulation. Substitute Dana Robins' first shot of the night was on target and forced Vance to make a play. Vance came up with an impressive save, but was unable to hold on to the ball. The rebound fell to Obita who made good on her fifth shot of the evening to score the game-winner for the Blue and Gold.
