THE EAGLES
The seventh-ranked Embry-Riddle women's tennis team improved its overall record to 4-3 with an 8-1 defeat of No. 18 Cumberland on Tuesday. The Eagles had an early advantage as the Bulldogs defaulted at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, giving ERAU a 2-0 lead. The more than four-hour long match saw the Eagles register three straight-set victories and two three-set wins in singles play to secure the win.

Paula Ortiz Couder is the Eagles' singles win leader with nine victories in her first season wearing the Blue and Gold.
Hui-I Huang and
Kristina Marova are 13-3 on the year as the top-ranked doubles team in the nation.
OLIVET NAZARENE
Olivet Nazarene is ranked 24th in the latest NAIA National Coaches Top 25 poll. The ONU singles lineup features a pair of ranked players in No. 25 Priscila Nunez and No. 27 Aziza Butoyi. Nunez and Seraphine Buchmann are also ranked 18th in the national doubles poll.
THE ERAU-ONU SERIES
Tuesday's contest marks the second meeting between the Embry-Riddle and Olivet Nazarene men's tennis teams. The only match between the two schools was on March 9, 2013 when the Eagles bested the Tigers 8-1 at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
The Last Meeting
Sixth-ranked Embry-Riddle notched its third shutout of 2013 after blanking NAIA No. 15 Olivet Nazarene in women's tennis action on March 9. Their 3-0 start in doubles play helped the Eagles even their overall record 5-5 on the year and marked their first win outside conference play this season.
Fourth-ranked
Kristina Marova and
Hui-I Huang got the scoring started with their first dual match shutout of the year, blanking Aziza Butoyi and Seraphine Buchmann 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Giovanni Tomiotto and
Paola Montero followed with an 8-3 win over Ashlan Allison and Tiffany Aguirre at No. 2 and
Ana Gonzalez-Hoy and
Meena Bennett completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 decision against Lindsey Peterson and Charisma King.
Bennett was the first to finish her singles match with a quick 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Clara Ruegseffer at No. 6 and Gonzalez-Hoy registered the clincher with a 6-4, 6-1 defeat of Aguirre on court five.
The match at No. 2 singles saw 17th-ranked Marova record a 6-1, 6-1 win over Buchmann. Montero was the next winner for the Blue and Gold, notching a 6-1, 6-2 win over Allison at No. 3 and Tomiotto closed out her contest against Aguirre at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-1 win.
For the second straight Eagle match, Huang was the last singles player off the court for the Eagles. After falling behind in 5-4 in the first set, the seventh-ranked Huang fought back to win the set 7-6 (7-3) and downed 14th-ranked Butoyi 6-0 in the second to seal the ERAU shutout.

The Eagles are ranked seventh in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 poll, marking the sixth consecutive season that ERAU Women's Tennis is ranked among the nation's top 10. Three ERAU student-athletes are featured in the ITA/NAIA singles rankings as sophomore
Hui-I Huang is ranked 17th, freshman Anna Götz is ranked 20th and senior
Kristina Marova is ranked 37th. Huang and Marova are ranked No. 1 in the national doubles poll.
