DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The second-ranked Embry-Riddle men's tennis team improved its record to 8-2 on Friday with a dominating 9-0 win over Sun Conference foe St. Thomas. 
 
The afternoon started off well for the Eagles as Rodolfo Arreygue and Migel Lopez Gomez scored the teams first point with an easy 8-1 victory over Matias Dasso and Joshua Rosner at No. 3 doubles.  Carlos Becke and Fabian Zierleyn also made quick work of the Bobcats' Luis Soto and Ariel Listo with an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.  At the top spot, ERAU's Deni Zmak and Jaime Sanchez-Canamares Rios came from behind to win their match over Juan Bravo and Grover Ordonez 8-5 after they trailed 5-4.
 
The Blue and Gold continued to dominate in singles play as the team won nearly all of its matches it straight sets.  Luke de Caires handed a Jamie Spruill a 6-0, 6-1 defeat to give the Eagles their first singles point before Lopez-Gomez clinched the win for ERAU at No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Rosner.
 
Becke took down Ordonez at No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-2, trailing just once in the first set, while Zierleyn led for nearly his entire match against Soto as the junior claimed a 6-3, 6-4 victory.  Arreygue also claimed an easy win, beating Listo 6-1, 6-3.
 
The longest match of the day came at No.1 singles as Zmak and Bravo played a back and forth two-set match that lasted nearly two and a half hours.  Zmak fell behind in each set 5-4 but was able to come back to win both. The top-ranked player in the country was able to win the first set 7-5 and then came back to take the second set 7-6, winning the second-set tiebreaker 7-2. 
 
The Eagles will return to action tomorrow when they face off against NCAA II No. 7 Lynn University.
