TAMPA, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's track and field team wrapped up its first meet of the 2016 outdoor season on Saturday, the USF Invitational. A number of Eagles had noteworthy performances on the day with many personal records being rewritten.
Kenny Shrimpton broke his personal best in a pair of events, running a 10.92 in the 100m and a 21.62 in the 200m, which earned him a second-place finish. Also in the 100m, Emerson Tyler (11.20) and Joshua Stief (11.44) each ran new personal-record times.
In the distance events, Calahan Warren placed third and set a personal best in the 1500m with a time of 4:02.21, while in the 3000m Matt Graves finished second (8:45.65) and Andrew Carosi posted a personal best (9:35.39).
Devontae Persha was the top-finishing collegiate runner in the 800m, clocking in a time of 1:58.15.
In the field events, Carlos Guillermo won the javelin and set a new PR with a mark of 53.43m.
The Eagles will be back in action next week when they travel to Conway, South Carolina to take part in the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina. The meet is schedule for March 17-19.
