DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The sixth-ranked Embry-Riddle men's tennis team notched its third road win of the season, downing No. 35 Palm Beach Atlantic 9-0 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center. Thursday's match lasted almost six hours and the win improved the Eagles' overall record to 11-2, while the Sailfish fell to 10-7 on the year.
 
A 3-0 sweep in doubles enabled the Eagles to establish themselves early on. The first match off the court was at the No. 3 spot where Luke de Caires and Miguel Lopez Gomez topped Thomas Salmon and Pietro de Silva 8-4. Fabian Zierleyn and Carlos Becke followed with their 8-1 win over Nicholas Battistini and Fernando Arroyo on court two and the Eagles' top flight duo of Deni Zmak and Juan Ortiz Couder completed the sweep by besting Nicolas Uryson and Hendrik Burmeister 8-3.
 
Zierleyn's straight-set (6-2, 6-4) defeat of Burmeister at No. 2 singles extended the Eagle lead to 4-0, and next to him, on court three, Becke held off Asti Adams 6-1, 7-6 (7-0) to clinch the victory for ERAU.
 
Sixth-ranked Zmak dropped the first set to No. 16 Uryson at the top singles spot, but the ERAU senior dominated the next two sets 6-2, 6-1 for the Eagles' sixth point.
 
Ortiz Couder (6-1, 6-3) and de Caires (6-3, 6-2) notched wins at the fourth and sixth spots, respectively, and Lopez Gomez capped the Eagle scoring with a three-set (6-2, 2-6, 14-12) win over de Silva on court four.
 
The Eagles will be back in action at 2 p.m. on Monday when they travel to Lakeland to take on Florida Southern in a match that was changed from Friday due to the threat of inclement weather in the Lakeland area.
