FULL RESULTS
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Embry-Riddle men's rowing team participated in the Head of the South regatta on Saturday, and brought home wins in the men's 1x, lightweight 4+ and the novice 8+ highlighting the day's results.
Guillermo Mazzilli cruised to victory in the men's 1x championship, finishing with a time of 18:14.6. Mazzilli finished nearly 40 seconds faster than the second-place boat from Davidson.
The Eagle Lightweight 4+ boat, featuring
Peter Douglass,
Arik Palmer,
Ethan Boone,
Joe Gunther and
Bryce Eighmey, won its race in 16:36.3. ERAU's boat finished approximately 47 seconds ahead of the second-place boat from Georgia.
ERAU also took home a victory in the novice 8+ championships. The boat, which included
Peter Ribbens,
Nick Horn,
Michael George,
Jay'Quan Miller,
Josh Busick,
Andrew Flynn,
Alex Metzger,
Noah Fong and
John Veracka, finished at 16:05.1, nearly nine seconds ahead of the second-place Georgia Tech boat.
The Eagles also had a strong showing in the 2x championship. The team of
Nick Horn and
Zachary Stith finished in second (17:32.4), with
Weston Hall and
Mathew Pitchford coming in third (17:37.5).
In the 8+ championship, the Eagle boat of Mazzilli,
Alec Palmer, Boone, Douglass, Pitchford, Hall, Eighmey, Stith and
Maxwell Katich took fourth place out of 13 boats with a time of 15:16.4.

Today's regatta marked the last competition for the rowing team until the spring.
