OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The Embry-Riddle men's and women's rowing teams wrapped up competition at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championship Regatta at Melton Hill Lake on Sunday.
Headlining Sunday's performance for the Blue and Gold was the Women's Novice 4+ team of
Lauren Stollenwerk,
Kaya Treder, Kathryn Chilleli,
Rachel Hemsworth and
Athena Padgiotis that finished in first place in a time of 7:37.46.
Jordan Pfile and
Julianna Snider also competed in Sunday's finals and placed fourth in the women's double in 8:45.77.
Men's competition saw Embry-Riddle's Varsity 8+ place third in 6:11.91, while the JV 8+ raced to fourth place in 6:30.48 in the men's final competition of the season.
"We had some great racing and some tough lessons today," ERAU Director of Rowing
Jamie Francis said. "The men capped their first season as a varsity program with a good fight all the way to the finish line. We're graduating a small group this year and have more great kids joining our team next fall. I'm excited about the work these kids are doing and look forward to more firsts next year.
The women will use this weekend's successes and try to bring some of that to our conference championship. We'll have a short week of practice before we head to Sarasota for our final race."
The Embry-Riddle women will be back in action on Friday when they compete in the Sunshine State Conference Women's Rowing Championship being hosted by Barry at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota.
