LAKELAND, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's cross country team competed at the NCAA II South Region Championship on Saturday morning at the 6K course at Holloway Park, hosted by Florida Southern. The Eagles placed sixth out of the 17 schools competing.
ERAU finished with a total score of 169, just one point ahead of Alabama-Huntsville (170). Lee won the meet with a total score of 41 followed by Tampa (62), Saint Leo (101), Florida Southern (125), and Union (163). Celine Ritter of Lee won the event with a time of 21:41.85, just ahead of her teammate Chloe Flora, who was second in 21:45.77.
Sarah Edens was the top finisher for the Blue and Gold as she finished 16th with a time of 22:45.69.
Kara Funke placed 35th with a time of 23:26.87, with
Rachel Jones right behind her in 36th place with a time of 23:30.68. Jose Gray was 41st in 23:36.85, followed by
Alyssa Zack in 48th (24:02.11),
Anna Miller in 53rd (24:14.61), and
Ukeyvia Beckwith in 83rd (25:26.15).
The Eagles will now await the results of the rest of the regionals, which are scheduled to take place throughout the day, to find out if they will be selected as an at-large team, or if any individuals receive at-large bids to the national meet.
