DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's cross country team will take home the ASICS Embry-Riddle Classic team title for the first time since 2015 after an impressive performance on Saturday. The Eagles put eight runners in the top-10, easily winning the 17-team event at the Embry-Riddle Sports Complex.
Sarah Edens was the top Eagle finisher on the day, placing second overall in 19:04.1, marking her 19th top-10 finish in her ERAU cross country career. Edens was followed by freshman
Anna Miller in 19:39.7 in third overall, with
Rachel Jones (19:53.0) and
Alyssa Zack (19:58.2) placing fourth and fifth overall, respectively.Â
Ukeyvia Beckwith crossed the finish line sixth in 20:30.8), wrapping up the Eagles' team win, but two more Blue and Gold runners finished eighth and ninth as
Maggie Allen (20:59.2) and
Josie Gray (21:02.0) earned top-10 honors.
Mikaela Hakamaa (15th - 22:00.9) and
Kara Funke (18th - 22:20.2) both finished in the top-20, with
Kaitlyn Buck (30th - 23:00.5) and
Morgan Dudley (35th - 23:34.8) also running for Embry-Riddle.
The Eagles' 20 points easily won the team-portion of the meet, as Daytona State (86) and Jacksonville (87) finished second and third, respectively. Bethune-Cookman (96) came in fourth and Seminole State College (115) rounded out the top-five.
The Eagles will be back in action in two weeks when they travel to Oregon for the Charles Bowles Invitational on Oct. 5.
