ST. LEO, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's cross country team closed out its 2021 campaign at the NCAA DII South Region Championships on Saturday. The meet, which was hosted by Saint Leo, saw the Eagles take 10
th place out of 18 teams with 272 points. Saturday's race featured two career-best 6K performances for the Blue and Gold.
"The women have worked really hard over the season especially in the last month," ERAU Head Coach
Mike Rosolino said. "This work showed today with a great effort to finish in the top 10 in the region. I was very proud of their effort today."
Ukeyvia Beckwith paced the Eagles in Saturday's race, crossing the line in 25
th place overall in a time of 23:24.61, which was better than her previous career-best mark, which she set at the Sunshine State Conference Championships two weeks ago. Her finish also earned the ERAU senior All-Region honors.
Rachel Jones and
Kelly Steffens finished 44
th and 47
th, respectively, with Jones crossing in 24:10.11 and Steffens posting the fastest 6K time of her career of 24:12.30.
Ravyn Edge (74
th, 25:11.77) and
Alaina Rider (86
th, 25:47.31) wrapped up the scoring for the Eagles.
Lee took first place overall with 31 points. Saint Leo (80), Mississippi College (97 points), Tampa (97 points) and Alabama-Huntsville (134 points) rounded out the top five.
