LAKELAND, Florida -
Alyssa Zack ran the fastest 6K time of her career on Saturday, finishing second overall at the 2021 Sunshine State Conference Pre-Conference Meet at Holloway Park. Zack's time of 23:07.3 was more than a minute faster than her previous best, as she led the Eagles to a fourth-place showing.
Zack, who finished as the Daytona Dual runner-up two weeks ago in Daytona, posted her third career top-10 finish while
Anna Miller finished seventh overall in 24:13.7, her second-fastest 6K time ever. Other than meet winner Tampa, the Eagles were the only squad with a pair of top-10 runners on Saturday.
Ukeyvia Beckwith (25:00.2) was 18th, followed by
Maggie Allen (26:10.0) in 26th and
Abby Valley (27:05.2) in 31st, with that trio rounding out the Blue and Gold scorers on a course that received an inch of rain just prior to start time.
Kelly Steffens (27:18.6) made her collegiate debut, finishing 33rd overall, with
Ravyn Edge (28:19.2) and
Nithya Chummar (29:11) also competing for Embry-Riddle.
Tampa won the six-team meet with 27 points, followed by Palm Beach Atlantic (66) and Florida Southern (81), before ERAU's 84 team points put the Eagles in fourth.
The third and final race of the 2020-21 season is in two weeks in West Palm Beach as PBA hosts the SSC Championships on the Rinker Athletic Campus.
The 2021 Embry-Riddle spring sport season is sponsored by Marco's Pizza.
