Men’s Rowing Competes at Stetson

DeLAND, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's rowing team made the short journey down Interstate 4 to go head-to-head with Stetson at the Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center on Lake Beresford. Both programs participated in two races, the Varsity Eight and the Varsity Four.

An 11 mph cross-tailwind aided the rowers down the 2,000 meter stretch of water. Temperatures were in the low-80s with partly cloudy skies.

In Varsity Eight, Isaac Dunavant, Nick Horn, Frederic Knecht, Vaclav Kuncak, Guillermo Mazzilli, Alec Palmer (coxswain), Blake Paynter, Ognjen Srbinovic, and Matthew Talty clocked in at 6:06.8 for a second-place finish.

Horn and Talty doubled up on the action by participating in Varsity Four. The two rowers aided Mason Anderson, Alexis Mathis (Coxswain), and Joshua Thornburgh in powering the boat to a runner-up finish of 6:55.2.

The Eagles are back in the water next Saturday, March 19 against Florida Tech at Canal 54 in Fellsmere, Fla.
