PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Embry-Riddle men's rowing team brought home a top-five finish in Varsity 4 at the Dad Vail Regatta on Saturday to close out what has been a productive 2021-22 campaign. It was the Blue and Gold's first-ever appearance at the prestigious event.

After winning the opening heat on Friday, the Eagles' Varsity 4 boat of Vaclav Kuncak, Alec Palmer (coxswain), Blake Paynter, Ognjen Srbinovic, and Matthew Talty got into the water early in the morning for the first race of the day, Semifinal 1, at 8 a.m. A thick fog covered the sky and the Schuylkill River when the six boats launched.

Despite the gloomy conditions, Embry-Riddle broke the program record again with a mark of 6:25.054 for a three-second win to be locked into the Grand Final in the afternoon.

Over seven hours later, the men returned for the six-boat final. The Eagles came home in fifth at 6:27.966, a strong result for a classification with 26 boats.

This concludes the 2021-22 season for men's rowing. Program records were set in Varsity 1, 2, and 4 throughout the eight regattas on the schedule. The men helped Embry-Riddle win an overall Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association title for the first time back in April, and they also won in Varsity 4 at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship.
