Women's Basketball Picked 2nd in SSC Preseason Coaches' Poll

ORLANDO, Fla. - The 2025-26 Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Preseason Coaches' Poll came out on Wednesday morning, with the Embry-Riddle Women's Basketball team picked to finish in second place and earning six first-place votes. Coaches cannot vote for their own teams, and points are then calculated (10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, with first-place votes in parentheses).

Tampa and Embry-Riddle, the two teams who shared the regular season championship in 2023-24, split all 11 of the first place votes. Eckerd rounded out the top three with 81 points, with Nova Southeastern (75) and Lynn (56), finishing the top half of the standings.

Head Coach Lisa Wilson's squad is coming off the most successful season in program history, as the Blue and Gold posted a 27-5 overall record in 2024-25 with a 17-3 mark in league play. The Eagles won their first ever SSC tournament championship to go along with their share of the regular season title. ERAU also reached the NCAA II South Regional for the second-straight season and beat West Florida 70-56 in the opening round.
 
Now entering her 11th year and 10th season at the helm of the program, Wilson has got a much different look heading into the 2025-26 season with six newcomers and six returners. The Eagles' are returning two All-Conference players with Laurie Satchell (8.7 pts, 6.2 reb) and Anye' Staton (8.2 pts, 5.4 reb), alongside Mary Lengemann (9.0 pts, 5.2 reb), a 2025 SSC All-Tournament Team member, and Kailey Turpening (8.9 pts, 4.7 reb, 5.2 ast).
 
Embry-Riddle will be looking to build upon the success of last season, with the 2025-26 season getting started in just a few weeks. The Eagles' campaign begins with the GSC/SSC Crossover Classic on Nov. 14-15. ERAU will face Montevallo (11:00 a.m.) on Friday followed by Auburn-Montgomery (1:00 p.m.) on Saturday.
