Women's Basketball Ranked 12th in WBCA Preseason Coaches Poll

| By:
LILBURN, Ga. –  Embry-Riddle Women's Basketball was ranked No. 12 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Preseason Poll released Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles are coming off the best season in program history, finishing 27-5 during the 2024-25 campaign. Last year, ERAU captured its first-ever Sunshine State Conference (SSC) regular season title and its first SSC Tournament championship. The Blue and Gold also advanced to the NCAA II National Tournament, where they defeated West Florida 70-56 before falling in a hard-fought second-round matchup against Nova Southeastern.

Grand Valley State earned 21 of 22 first-place votes to claim the top spot in the poll after posting a 38-2 record last season. Union University (Tenn.), Texas Woman's University, North Georgia, and Gannon round out the top five, with North Georgia receiving the only other first-place vote. The WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll Committee is composed of one head coach from each of the NCAA Division II conferences, with Ashley Raley-Ross, the head coach of Florida Tech, serving as the SSC representative. Find the full rankings here.

Head Coach Lisa Wilson, the reigning SSC Coach of the Year, enters her eleventh season at the helm with six returning players and six freshmen on the 2025-26 roster. The Eagles return two All-Conference standouts in Anye' Staton and Laurie Satchell, while Mary Lengemann also returns after earning SSC All-Tournament Team honors during ERAU's championship run.

Two other SSC programs appear in the preseason rankings, with Nova Southeastern at No. 19 and Tampa at No. 23. Those are the only two schools that ERAU is scheduled to play this season that were ranked in the preseason poll.

Fans can get their first look at the 2025-26 Eagles on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 12 p.m. when they host Warner University in an exhibition at the ICI Center. Embry-Riddle opens the regular season with a four-game homestand, beginning with Montevallo on Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. and Auburn-Montgomery on Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. as part of the GSC-SSC Crossover Classic. Conference play tips off on Nov. 22 when ERAU hosts Saint Leo the weekend before Thanksgiving.
