Men’s Rowing to Compete for William J. Knecht Memorial Trophy at Knecht Cup

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Embry-Riddle Men's Rowing secured sports in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight finals on Sunday after impressive performances in the heats on Saturday at the Knecht Cup. Varsity eight gave everything it had to collect the final spot based on time by about half a second. 

It's the second-straight year Embry-Riddle is competing at this regatta.

  • V8+ | Embry-Riddle battled it out against Division III No. 1 Trinity, Stetson and Lehigh in heat No. 2 for varsity eight. The Eagles were in a tight battle with the Hatters and Mountain Hawks, and Embry-Riddle crossed the line in fourth with a time of 6:29.97, fast enough to earn a spot in the final.
  • 2V8+ | The Blue and Gold took on Trinity, MIT, Mercyhurst, Lehigh and Fairfield in its heat. ERAU was edged at the line by Lehigh, finishing in 6:40.59, just over three tenths back of the Mountain Hawks. Even though it was a fifth-place result, all six boats advanced to Sunday's final.
