ORLANDO, Fla. - A 295 in round one has Embry-Riddle Men's Golf in the thick of the pack after the first day of the Sunshine State Conference Championship. The Eagles reside in fifth ahead of notable programs such as No. 17 Nova Southeastern (304), No. 31 Saint Leo (300), and No. 32 Palm Beach Atlantic (306).

ERAU's 15 birdies as a team tied for the third most in the first round.

Ian Ball (72) | T-7th

Ball began his day with a birdie and then closed out his round with a below-par score on the 11th hole and seven-straight pars.
He played well on par-4s, tying for the sixth-lowest average on such holes (4.0).
Ball also tied for seventh in average on par-5s (4.75).
His 12 pars were a team high.

Edoardo Scialanga (73) | T-11th

Scialanga launched out of the tee box with an eagle on the first hole, a par 5 at 516 yards.
The sophomore produced three-straight birdies from the eighth through the tenth holes.
Scialanga was in the red on par-5s, going one under on such holes.

Tiago Barni (74) | T-17th

Barni started his back nine with two-straight birdies.
From the fourth to the 14th hole, the senior registered three birdies and eight pars.
A 74 was Barni's best opening round score of the spring.
Like Ball and Scialanga, Barni was one under par on par-5s.

Ryan Gear (76) | T-28th

Gear began his round well with back-to-back birdies on the first two holes.
He closed out the front nine at one under thanks to four birdies.
Six pars in a row concluded Gear's first round.
Gear's four birdies were the most on the team and tied for the seventh most among all individuals.

Michael Faringer (80) | T-45th

Faringer ended his day on a positive note with a birdie on the 18th.
This is his first competition of the season.
