Men’s Rowing Begins Competition at SIRA Championships

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - Embry-Riddle Men's Rowing started the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Friday by sending a pair of boats through to 'A' Finals as both the Novice 4 and Second Varsity 8 secured spots in the main event. All four boats competed in time trials on the opening day with three seeing semifinal action.

Time Trials
  • N4+ | Embry-Riddle started the day with the second-fastest time in the Novice 4 time trial, posting a 6:10.244, just two seconds back of Texas and directly ahead of Rollins (6:11.475) and Florida Tech (6:24.949). 
  • 2V8+ | The Eagles posted another solid time trial (5:36.208) in the Second Varsity 8, which was third-fastest among all entries.
  • V4+ | ERAU placed eighth in the time trial with a 6:33.112.
  • V8+ | Embry-Riddle placed directly ahead of Stetson in eights, stopping the clock at 5:32.193.
  • All four boats advanced to the semifinals, three of which were later in the afternoon.
Semifinals
  • N4+ | The Novice 4 earned another runner-up result, clocking in at 7:26.526 to head to the 'A' Final.
  • 2V8+ | A second Blue and Gold boat advanced to the 'A' Final as the 2V8 also grabbed second with a 6:26.772.
  • V4+ | Varsity Four received a spot in the 'B' Final after placing third in the Semifinal 2 race with a time of 7:15.654.
