Men’s Rowing Takes Silver in Novice Four at SIRA Championships

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - Embry-Riddle Men's Rowing grabbed some hardware at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Saturday as the Blue and Gold's Novice 4 shell finished second in the A Final. Notably, Embry-Riddle also claimed the B Final in Varsity 4 and Varsity 8.

Semifinals
  • V8+ | Embry-Riddle pressured Stetson for the final qualifying spot into the A Final, but the Eagles came up just three seconds short of the Hatters and finished in third (6:08.865) to go to the B Final. No. 19 Columbia (6:00.818) took the top spot.
Finals
  • N4+ | The first final of the day was a medal-winning performance as Novice 4 claimed silver with a 6:58.148 in the A Final, just three ticks back of the winner, Rollins. It was almost 30 seconds faster than the time the boat posted in yesterday's semifinal.
  • V4+ | Varsity 4 improved seven seconds over yesterday's time to win the B Final thanks to a time of 7:08.324.
  • 2V8+ | Though the 2V8 also knocked seven seconds off it's time from Friday, the Eagles placed fifth in the A Final. ERAU's 7:19.998 was just two seconds away from a medal.
  • V8+ | Embry-Riddle closed out the SIRA Championships with a win in the B Final (6:16.981). The Eagles won by two seconds over Fordham and also beat rival RV Florida Tech.

UP NEXT
Up next is the National Invitational Rowing Championships in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 10. There, the Eagles will hope to qualify for the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship.
