DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association and College Sports Communicators both announced honors on Tuesday, as four members of the Women's Tennis team were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team and
Laura Cuesta Bret was named the ITA South Regional Recipient of the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA and have competed in at least 75% of matches that include team scores. All four honorees have been selected to advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration, with those winners to be announced June 2.
Cuesta Bret earned a spot on her second Academic All-District team while also claiming the ITA South Regional Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award. She carries a perfect 4.00 GPA in Aerospace Engineering.
Franziska Kremerskothen earns her first All-District nod after a standout season at No. 6 singles, where she compiled a 17-3 record. She also holds a perfect 4.00 GPA in Human Factors Psychology.
Amelie Gindl receives her second All-District recognition, adding to an already decorated academic resume that includes the Division II CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year award for Women's Tennis, earned last season at Southern Arkansas University. Gindl carries a perfect 4.00 GPA in Human Factors Psychology and anchored the lineup at No. 1 singles throughout the season.
Benedetta Sensi rounds out the group, earning her first CSC Academic All-District honor after previously being named All-SSC Second Team for singles. She went 17-3 spending the majority of her time at the No. 3 position and holds a 3.70 GPA in Communications.
