NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Embry-Riddle men's track & field team checks in at the number two position in the NCAA II South Region Team Computer Rankings. The list was released Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The rankings are determined using the national descending order lists for individual and relay events to calculate a point total for each team. The higher an athlete is ranked in the descending order lists, the more points he or she accumulates for his or her team; the more high-ranking athletes a team has, the higher their score.
The Blue and Gold earned 349.62 points to rank second behind Shorter's 450.29 points. Alabama-Huntsville (322.26), Benedict (270.84) and Lee (237.60) round out the top five in the South Region.
The Eagles currently have 19 athletes and two relays listed among the top 10 in the region, including James Bullock's 4.40m pole vault that is the top mark in the South. Richard Maku's 14.65m triple jump and Maurice Cullum's 14.09m shot put are both second in their respective events.
The Eagles are off next weekend before returning to Birmingham for the Samford Invitational Feb. 12-13.
