SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The Savannah College of Art and Design women's volleyball team showed why it's among the nation's top ranked team defeating Embry-Riddle University 3-0 (30-12, 30-10, 30-19) at the St. Paul's Activity Center Wednesday evening.
The Eagles (0-5, 0-1 FSC) playing without the services of middle Sue Delahanty tried to get into the flow of the match against the upstart SCAD?team and managed to battle in the third game, but it was too little too late.?
SCAD (5-2, 3-0 FSC) which had never defeated?ERU in three prior meetings, came out firing on all cylinders hitting .600 as a squad.? The Bees?were paced by FSC Player of the Week freshman Cristina Payne who finished with 15 kills and a .462 hitting percentage, while?Katie Richardson boasted a .642 hitting percentage and 10 kills.? Emily Bumby added eight kills and a .583 swing percentage.
Embry-Riddle hit just?-.073 hitting percentage committing six more errors than?kills on the evening and the lack of offensive weapons and customary hitting distribution was evident throughout the match.? Noela Tola led the offense with eight kills.
The Eagles still searching for their first victory of the year, resume FSC action on Friday hosting Florida Memorial at 7 p.m. and close out the weekend on Saturday against St. Thomas at noon.???
