WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Embry-Riddle women's volleyball team split its matches at the Hurricane Jeanne shortened?Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish Classic closing out the event with a 3-0 victory (30-28, 30-26, 30-28)?against Jamestown (N.D.) Saturday afternoon.
Noela Tola (Tirana, Albania) led the Eagles (2-9 overall) to victory against Jamestown (11-7) with a team-high 14 kills and recorded 14 digs, while New Smyrna Beach native Sue Delahanty added 11 kils and 17 digs.
Tola joined Jackie Stanley (Palm Beach Atlantic), Natalja Tinina (Madonna University, Kristy Hartley (Florida Gulf Coast), Lindsay Miller (Wilmington), and Melissa Bear?(Flagler) on the Sailfish Classic?All-Tournament team.
The event was originally scheduled as a two-day tournament, but with the onset of Hurricane Jeanne, the Classic was shortened to one day giving each team two matches instead of the scheduled four.
The Eagles fell to first-year NCAA Division II volleyball program Florida Gulf Coast University 3-0 (30-23, 30-10, 30-22) in the first games of the Classic.
