DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team notched its 10^th win of the season with an 8-1 victory over NCAA I University of Connecticut on Tuesday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The Eagles improved their overall record to 10-3 on the year, while the Huskies fell to 2-10.
 
The Eagles took control of the contest early, winning all three doubles points. Miguel Lopez Gomez and Rodolfo Arreygue notched an easy 8-1 win against Joshua Palmer and Peter Surovic at No. 3 doubles. The matches at the top two doubles spots were both 8-6 decisions as second-ranked Deni Zmak and Jaime Sanchez-Canamares Rios downed Christopher Toner and Jacob Spreyer on court one, and Fabian Zierlyn and Carlos Becke topped Andrew Ginzberg and Zac McEntee on court two.
 
Zmak recorded the Eagles' first singles point, besting Spreyer 6-0, 6-4 at the top spot. Next to him on court two, Sanchez-Canamares clinched the win for the Blue and Gold with his 6-1, 6-1 defeat of McEntee.
 
Becke and Luke de Caires also posted straight-set victories for the Eagles as Becke handed Ginzberg a 6-2, 6-2 loss at No. 4 singles and de Caires downed Edwards 6-3, 6-2 at the fifth position.
 
The last two matches off the court both went to three sets. At No. 3 singles, Toner helped the Huskies avoid the shutout as he edged Zierlyn 4-6, 6-2, 11-9. Arreygue wrapped up the scoring for ERAU with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 10-3 win over Surovic at No. 6.
 
The Eagles will play their last match before spring break at 11 a.m. on Wednesday when they host Oklahoma Baptist.
