NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Embry-Riddle men's track and field team is ranked sixth overall in the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Team Computer Rankings. The rankings were released Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The rankings are determined using the national descending order lists for individual and relay events to calculate a point total for each team. The higher an athlete is ranked in the descending order lists, the more points he or she accumulates for his or her team; the more high-ranking athletes a team has, the higher their score.
The Blue and Gold received 268.03 points and is the only team from The Sun Conference ranked in the top 25. The Eagles have posted seven national qualifying standards so far this outdoor season.
The five teams ranked ahead of ERAU are Indiana Tech (357.87), Oklahoma Baptist (328.71), Concordia (314.71), British Columbia (307.37), and Wayland Baptist (300.35).
ERAU currently has five individuals and one relay ranked in the top-10 NAIA times/marks this season: the 4x800 relay team of
Alec Hernandez,
Jamin Mays,
DeVontae Persha, and
Zachary Kraus own the best time in the nation (7:42.18),
