DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team posted a strong performance in singles play to upend NCAA II No. 10 Rollins 5-4, Saturday morning at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The Eagles fell behind 2-1 after doubles play, but notched four singles wins to improve to 2-1 on the year. Rollins falls to 0-2 with the loss.
 
Rollins got its first point of the day at No. 3 doubles where Robin Marchione and Ahmed Albitar bested Mickael Faucher and Rodolfo Arreygue 8-3. Fabian Zierleyn and Carlos Becke teamed up for an 8-3 win over Patrick Sell and Ziad Melhaoui at the second doubles spot, but the 11^th-ranked duo of Anton Bettink and Adrian De Felice put the Tars back in front with their 8-3 victory over Deni Zmak and Juan Ortiz Couder at the top spot.
 
Ortiz Couder recovered quickly from his doubles loss as he easily dispatched Augusten 6-2, 6-1 on court five to pull the Eagles level at 2-2. At No. 3 singles, Becke downed Albitar 6-3, 6-1, while Zmak defeated 11^th-ranked Bettink 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to make the score 4-2 in favor of the home team.
 
The clinching point came at the second singles position where Zierleyn had the better of the match-up against No. 44 Sell. The senior had very similar performances in both sets, cruising out to a quick 5-0 lead in each, then dropping two straight games before coming back to take the set, winning 6-2, 6-2.
 
The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Flagler at 3:30 p.m.
