DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team returned to action after a 1-day layoff to down Southern New Hampshire 7-2, Monday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. Rain delayed the start of the match by four and a half hours, but the Eagles (6-1) took the delay in stride on the way to earning their sixth win of the season.
 
The Eagles pulled away from the Penmen early, sweeping all three doubles points. Deni Zmak and Juan Ortiz Couder teamed up for an 8-2 defeat of Tiago Fernandes and Miguel Marrerios at the top spot, followed by Fabian Zierleyn and Carlos Becke's 8-3 defeat of Xavier Aubron and Ricardo Marrerios at No. 2, and Luke de Caires and Mickael Faucher's 8-4 win over Max Goergeff and Sebastien Ramirez at No. 3.
 
Playing his first match of the year at the top singles spot, Zierleyn had little trouble dispatching Miguel Marreiros 6-0, 6-1. Faucher earned the first dual match singles win of his career against the Penmen. Playing at the fifth spot, the freshman battled Ramirez to a 6-3, 6-4 win to score the clinching point for the Blue and Gold.
 
Ortiz Couder held off Aubron 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 at the third flight and Miguel Lopez Gomez, who was inserted into the lineup for the first time this season, registered the Eagles' final point of the day by topping Jeremy Reichentahl 6-0, 6-1.
 
The Eagles will scrimmage ASA-Miami tomorrow before returning to action against West Florida at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
