DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team notched its second shutout of the 2016 season with a 9-0 blanking of Southern New Hampshire on Monday. The Eagles are now 4-4 overall, while the Penmen fall to 11-4.
 
Paula Ortiz Couder and Kathryn Bock wasted little time in recording the Eagles' first point of the afternoon as they dispatched Kaitlyn Poje and Anna Sala 8-1 in just 25 minutes. The Eagles' next point came at the top spot courtesy of Hui-IHuang and Anna Götz's 8-2 win over Ashley Loft and Abla Chadli.
 
In contrast to their teammates on the court next to them, the third flight pair of Giovanna Tomiotto and Meena Bennett took over an hour to earn a victory over Rachel Wagner and Yolanda Green. Down 5-2, the ERAU duo rallied to take the next six games and secure the Eagles' second doubles sweep of the season with an 8-5 win.
 
Ortiz Couder was as efficient in singles as she was in doubles, needing just a little more than an hour to dispatch Sala 6-0, 6-0 at the third flight. Tomiotto won the first set 6-0 at No. 5 before Green retired due to an injury to record the clinching point.
 
No. 5 Bock and No. 2 Götz finished their matches within seconds of each other with Bock topping Poje 6-0, 6-0 and Götz downing Chadli 6-1, 6-2. Huang registered a come-from-behind win to best Loft in three set 3-6, 6-3, 10-4, and Bennett capped the Eagles' scoring by downing Wagner 6-4, 6-1 on court six.
 
The Eagles will take on ASA-Miami in a scrimmage on Tuesday before facing West Florida at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
