DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team battled 12
th-ranked Flagler for close to four hours on Thursday, but the Eagles were unable to come away with a win, falling to the Saints 6-3 at the Crotty Tennis Complex. Thursday's match marked the final home contest of the season, as well as the final home matches in the careers of seniors
Ana Gonzalez-Hoy and
Maud Mrad, both of whom notched victories in singles play.
Flagler earned the first point of the day courtesy of Patrycja Maslank and Hilary Hanton's 8-3 win over
Ana Gonzalez-Hoy and
Lydia Carter at No. 3 doubles.
Kathryn Bock and
Maria Turrillo tied things up with a 8-5 win over Felicitas Runkel and Lizanne Jinkertz at the second position, but the Saints pulled ahead once again when Kelly Burge and Mary Jo Nanti held off
Maud Mrad and
Alexis Marshall 8-6 at the top spot.

Georgina Wood 6-2, 6-1 on court two to extend the Flagler advantage to 3-1. Playing her final home match in an Embry-Riddle uniform, Gonzalez-Hoy, a fifth-year senior, got a point back for the Blue and Gold with her 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Hanton at the sixth spot.
After Maslanka topped Marshall 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, Runkel clinched the Saints' victory by holding off Bock 6-4, 7-6 (5) on court five and Burge pulled out a three-setter against Turrillo on court three, topping the ERAU freshman 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
The final match to reach completion was at the top spot where Mrad downed Nanti 6-3, 6-4 to cap the scoring.
The Eagles will close out the season on the road against Nova Southeastern on Saturday. The match will take place in Ft. Lauderdale and is slated for 1 p.m.
