Men's Track & Field Competes in Opening Two Days of Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Embry-Riddle Men's Track and Field wrapped up the first two of three days of Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic at the ERAU Track & Field Complex on Friday.

In the decathlon, Carter Speh set personal records in the long jump of 5.72m and in the shot put with a toss of 10.44m on the way to a third-place finish with 5,559 points. Seth Cribben also set personal records in the long jump of 6.19m and in the pole vault with 2.75m, scoring 4,986 points.  Stephen Baird set personal bests in the 100m with 11.89, long jump with 5.72m, shot put with 9.42m (shattering his previous best of 7.96m), in the high jump with 1.41m, pole vault (3.05), javelin (33.23m) and 1500m (5:00.07) to score a career-best 4,420 points. In addition, Noah Robbins and John Bai both also set career bests long jump of 5.70m and 5.43m respectively, with Bai setting a pole vault personal outdoor best of 3.70m. Aidan Barnes set a personal outdoor best in the pole vault of 3.60m.

On Friday, Colin McHugh set a career record in the 110m hurdles of 15.50.

K'Anthony Benjamin and Craig Dedrick III both set career bests in the 100m, with their times of 10.75 and 10.76 respectively both barely missing out on the program top-10 list, placing 11th and 12th.

Jack Brooks set a personal best in the 1500m, running it in 4:09.75, as did Carter Bergeron in 4:12.41

Derick Brown set an outdoor personal best in the 200m, running it in 22.31.

Speh set a career record in the javelin of 3.35 and in the javelin of 42.37.

Walker Cowherd, Antonio Caito and Isaiah Kline all set personal records in the long jump of 6.77m, 6.76m and 6.07 respectively.

Chance Tressler came in third in the hammer with a personal best mark of 47.22m.Matt Larsen (42.18m), Tristen Wheaton (42.03m) and Noah Gammichia (39.03m) also set personal records in the event.

ERAU notched two top-five finishes in the 5000m, as Simon Cole (14:44.32) and Nicholas Scarangelli (14:57.20) finishes first and fifth respectively. This signified a personal record for Cole as well as an outdoor personal record for Scarangelli.

Michael Kotey and Colin McNally had leaps of 4.25m in the pole vault, sharing third place.

Next up for the Eagles is day three, which is set to begin with the discus at 9 a.m.
