Men’s Rowing Concludes Fall Season at Head of South

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Embry-Riddle men's rowing team was back on the water Saturday at the Head of the South Regatta as they wrapped up action for the 2019 calendar year, fielding 10 boats across six events in a field filled with schools from the ranks of Division I and Division II.
 
Competing in the Men's 1x, Matthew Pitchford recorded a fourth-place finish with a time of 20:05.9 and was just 63 seconds behind event-winner Philip Lechner of Emory. Weston Hall and Lucas Ferrando Quilez also competed in the event, recording finishes of seventh and 10th with times of 20:29.3 and 22:06.2 respectively.
 
The Men's Club 2+ boat of Peter Ribbens and Andrew Flynn placed fourth in their race with a time of 20:09.3.
 
In the Men's Club 4+, the boat crewed by Alexis Mathis, Cyril Narishkin, Carmelo Alamo, Franklin Rujano Alain and David Tsnobiladze recorded an 11th place finish with a time 19:25.5.
 
In the Men's Championship 4+, the boat of Guillermo Mazzilli, Alec Palmer, Josh Busick, Ethan Boone and Maxwell Katich picked up a fourth-place finish, crossing the line in a time of 17:15.7, just 27 seconds behind of the Florida Tech A-boat in the event. The second boat for the Blue & Gold in the event, crewed by Arik Palmer, Zachary Stith, Noah Thornburgh, Peter Ribbens and Michael George finished in sixth with a time of 17:41.6.
 
The Men's Collegiate and Club Novice 8+ boat picked up an event win with a time of 16:22.0. The boat, crewed by Brandon Vick, Zachary Friedrichs, Vincent Jerome, Jared Liechty, Jay'Quan Miller, Mason Anderson, Franklin Rujano Alain, David Tsnobiladze and Louis Spier won by 13 seconds over runner-up North Carolina. 
 
The Men's Championship 8+ boat for the Eagles, consisting of Guillermo Mazzilli, Josh Busick, Zachary Stith, Mathew Pitchford, Ethan Boone, Jared Liechty, Maxwell Katech, Zachary Friedrichs and Alec Palmer, also posted a fourth-place result with a time of 15:23.9, 21 seconds behind winner Florida Tech. The second Embry-Riddle boat in the field of Michael George, Arik Palmer, Noah Thornburgh, Weston Hall, Maxwell Katich, Vincent Jerome, Mason Anderson, Andrew Flynn and Peter Ribbens finished in ninth with a time of 16:57.3.
 
The Eagles will be back in action March 7 at the Jacksonville Dual, hosted by Jacksonville University.
