DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The second of the day of the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic featured more personal best performances for the Embry-Riddle men's track and field team.
The Eagles opened the day with three top-six finishes in the decathlon.
Heinrich Adriaanse placed second with 6,126 points.
Noah Robbins took fifth with 4,766 points, which included PRs of 31.46m in the discus and 3.15m in the pole vault, while
Seth Cribben (4,740 points) was sixth in his first collegiate decathlon.
Jeremy Mog (1.90m) and
Adam El-Kadi (1.85m) both matched their personal bests in the high jump to place second and fifth, respectively. The high also featured a PR of 1.70m for
James Sorenson.
In the pole vault, four of the five Eagle competitors had personal records.
Michael Kotey finished tied at the top of the standings with a PR of 4.55m.
Conrad Prisby and Collin McNally tied with identical leaps of 4.40m, while
Alec Zaller (4.10m) and
Jeremy Niemiec (3.95m) were sixth and seventh, respectively.
Craig Dedrick posted PRs in the sprint double with a time of 11.24 in the 100m and a 22.19 in the 200m, while
Ryan Flournoy was the top finisher for the Blue & Gold in the long jump with a PR of 6.16m.
Running in the third 1500m race of his collegiate career,
Charles Hruda turned in a personal record of 4:08.52.
Brendon Shea bettered his previous personal best in the 5000m by nine seconds, winning the event in 14:44.78.
The final race of the day saw
Ryan Szklany run the fastest 10,000m of his career in his first competition in that event this season. He eclipsed the mark he set at last year's Spikes Classic, winning the race in 30:56.18.
The Spikes Classic will conclude on Saturday.
