DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's and women's track and field programs wrapped up the 2023 Spikes Classic by celebrating the 2023 senior class on the final day of the three-day meet. The men and women who were recognized have enjoyed many successes throughout their Embry-Riddle careers and have been part of at least one Peach Belt Conference track and field championship.
Saturday's competition featured more wins and personal records for the Blue & Gold. The day began with a PR of 16.14 for
Michala Daniels in the women's 100m hurdles, while
Chris Abell ran a personal best time of 56.70 on the way to a third-place finish in the men's 400m hurdles.
The men's team earned gold and bronze in the 200m as
Adam Landen finished first in 22.46 and
Bradon Black took third in 23.32.
Ukeyvia Beckwith dominated the field in the open 400m cruising to first place in 55.50. That time was the second-fastest of her career and marked the second time in as many days that she achieved an NCAA II provisional qualifying standard.
Morgan Dudley placed second in 58.00
The 800m yielded multiple PRs for both the men and women. The women's race resulted in fifth and sixth-place finishes for
Caroline Harris (2:18.66) and Mackenzie Keller (2:18.80), respectively, as well as personal bests for
Abby Valley (2:21.16) and
Ravyn Edge (2:22.94). One day after hitting a PR in the 1500m,
Tayan Benson improved on his 800m personal record with a time of 1:56.71. Jacob Fritz placed fourth overall in the 800m field in 1:53.11, while
Tristan McWilliam was seventh in personal-best time of 1:54.23.
The Eagles will travel to Tampa next weekend to compete in the South Florida Invitational. The meet takes place April 7-8 and will be the Eagles' final event before hosting the Peach Belt Conference championships April 20-21.
